In the virtual realm of the internet, time and space expand without limits, where information is continuously received and instantly consumed. In contrast, the physical world appears constrained, marked by spatial boundaries and temporal delay. Beneath these limitations, the material consumption and the toll of labor embedded in processes of production are often obscured.

Titled “Opening Hours,” a term specific to physical spaces, the work points to the material consumption and human labor that persist behind the digital world yet are frequently overlooked. Through the delay of perception and the interplay between human and object, the work seeks to articulate a sense of temporal and spatial disjunction shaped by the acceleration of contemporary society.

在虛擬網路世界中,時間與空間得以無邊際地延展,人們持續接收資訊並即時消費。相較之下,實體世界的空間與時間性則顯得有限且帶有延遲;而在這種局限之下,也遮蔽了生產過程中的物質消耗與勞動耗損。

本作品以實體空間特有的「營業時間(Opening Hours)」為題,指向網路世界背後仍然存在卻常被忽視的物質消耗與人力勞動。透過觀看的延遲,以及人與物件之間的連動關係,試圖連結在社會加速之下所生成的時間與空間斷裂感。

Production Apparatus

The laboring body becomes rigid and gradually estranged, resembling hardened blocks of cement—devoid of the roundedness and temporal accumulation found in stone.

As the viewer enters the space and pushes the door, the movement activates a device attached to it. This mechanism strikes a stainless steel plate below, evoking the repetitive force of metal stamping processes, while revealing the lightness and fragility of materials within modern production.

勞動的身體僵硬與逐漸異質,如同僵硬的水泥石塊,不如石頭的圓潤與時間積累,而當觀者進入空間推門大門,即連動作品銜接在門上的裝置,並打中下方的不鏽鋼板,如金屬沖壓技術的敲打,並呈現現代生產輕薄與脆弱的物質性。

Labor Apparatus

Under collective labor, bodies collide with one another, producing crisp, resonant sounds. Suspended and drifting upon a thin mesh fabric, they evoke the smallness and fragility of life within labor.

在集體的勞動之下,身體與他者碰撞敲擊出清脆的聲響,並在輕薄的網布上懸置游移,呈現勞動生命中的渺小與脆弱。
